Larry Evers has been at the UA since 1974 and is currently Department Head of English. Professor Evers holds a joint appointment with American Indian Studies. His most recent scholarly work includes a UA Press book, Home Places, and a Journal of the Southwest article, The Elders Truth: A Yaqui Sermon which won the Spicer Award for best article in the journal in 1992. He has a special issue of Oral Tradition prepared entitled, Native American Oral Traditions: Collaboration and Interpretation. Professor Evers teaches AIS 577, Studies in American Indian Literature, a core requirement in AIS. He has consistently provided leadership for the growth and development of American Indian Studies at the UA for over two decades.
